Feb 12th, the Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi and a delegation from the UN Refugee Agency, visited the Donetsk Oblast (province).

Close to the front line, the group inspected restored residential buildings in the village of Kurdiumivka [Kurdyumivka]. Buildings were restored by the United Nations Refugee Agency, with financial support of the Government of Japan and other international donors. This 2017 UNHCR project, funds repairs of houses damaged along the demarcation line. Thus far, some 40,000 homes are estimated to have been damaged during the conflict.
