Divided by War. United by Letters

All too easy to assume Ukrainians living on one side of the front line, dislike those living on the other. Disproving this assumption, earlier this year the OSCE ran an inspirational Letters of Peace project.

On both sides of the conflict line, OSCE asked hundreds of random people to write letters to those on the other side. OSCE gave an assessment of the project – “The Letters of Peace confirmed observations made by OSCE ground patrols: despite a fortified and largely sealed off contact line separating them, people refuse to be divided. Despite pain and loss, they refuse to hate. Instead, they want peace.”
