Benjamin Franklin is credited with saying “nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” Well there is at least one other certainty in life and that’s Russia’s propaganda. Every year the Kremlin turns up the propaganda volume to max and again starts shouting about Ukraine’s preparations for a “large-scale offensive.”
Goes without saying, that every year, right on cue, nothing ever happens.
As you can see on Russia’s so called, Donetsk People’s Republic website, the Russian Foreign Ministry is leading the fake news charge, trotting out claims about Ukraine massing its forces. Meanwhile on social media, its propagandists and trolls are all singing from the Kremlin hymn sheet, spouting tales of woe and hysteria about an imminent Ukrainian attack. I guess Russia’s never heard the old saying about people – crying wolf?
One of the most amusing things I’ve seen on this theme, is the tweet from paid Russian propagandist, Zlatko Percinic. Working illegally in Russian occupied Ukraine, here he is suggesting Ukrainian soldiers carrying out military training, is a sure sign of something out of the ordinary. Do you think he’s heard the old saying – you pay peanuts, you get Russian backed monkeys?
