I’m sure most of you will have noticed the unprecedented step yesterday of countries announcing the expulsion of Russian diplomats. As a proud Brit, it was heartening to see such a unified show of support for us. All the more so, because countries around the world came together and send a clear message to Putin, that things have changed. As we saw with Russia’s invasion of Crimea and then eastern Ukraine, Putin relies on token gestures and spasmodic reaction, which he simply shrugs off.
Putin will as usual huff and puff. Russia’s propaganda will as usual rant and rave. And the Russian people will as usual see nothings changed under their newly elected, President.
