The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have made an important change in wording. Previously, when referencing Russian occupied areas in Ukraine, they’d used the term “non government-controlled areas.”

They have now voted to say “temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions controlled by the Russian occupation administration.” Link to PACE website

Always good to see people calling it like it is. For far too long, countries and the media have reported on and condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine, but have mostly avoided calling it an occupation, or invasion. And because of this lack of backbone, the pain and suffering of millions of Ukrainians continues.
