Keeping Warm: A Matter of Life & Death

With heavy snow limiting access to fuel such as coal and wood, the winter work of humanitarian agencies becomes crucial.

Despite the on-going conflict & challenging weather conditions, Ukraine’s Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have been out and about delivering – heating briquettes, coal, heaters, insulation materials and animal feed to those front line residents most in need. With some people keeping animals such as cows and chickens, a winter supply of food for them is particularly welcome.

With a large percentage of those enduring life on the front line aged over 60, this fuel and fodder assistance is a real life giving bonus. For elderly residents, staying warm means staying alive. ICRC website.
