In eastern Ukraine, several thousand men, women, children have been killed and horrifically maimed by mines & unexploded ordnance. And every month, people are still killed and horrifically injured by them. So, seeing Russia-led soldiers having a mine-laying competition is unsettling, but it’s what we’ve come to expect from Russia’s forces in Ukraine.
Oct 2019: Using fresh out of the box, Russian anti-tank mines, “sappers” from the Luhansk & Donetsk regions competed to see who could lay them the quickest and correct distance apart. Adding to the Russian theme, the vehicles they’re driving are Russian army UAZ-469 Light Utility vehicles. It’s an old vehicle, but like much of the hardware Russia’s sent into eastern Ukraine, it’s surplus stock. The mines look to be TM-62 anti-tank pressure mines.
These photos are yet another bit of evidence indicating Russia’s sent huge quantities of mines into eastern Ukraine. Little wonder then, the region is now ranked as one of the most mine infested parts of the world.
