#StandWithUkraine Reveals Russia’s Propaganda is Pointless

Over the eight years I’ve proudly campaigned for Ukraine, I’ve never seen such an outpouring of love and support for Ukraine. And it’s all down to Putin. All down to Russia’s threats of a renewed invasion, coupled with their upsurge in tired, predictable disinformation. So many thanks clueless Russia, you’ve single handedly galvanized worldwide support for Ukraine and opposition to you.

Russia’s unrelenting propaganda directed against Ukraine, follows the principle used by Nazi Germany. As Hitler’s chief propagandist Joseph Goebbels put it – “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” Since Russia invaded Ukraine back in 2014, those big Russian lies have come thick and fast and Russia’s vast propaganda machine keeps on repeating them.

For the best part of eight long years, Russia’s been pumping out lies and disinformation about Ukraine. Not a single day goes by without the Kremlin, Russian government departments, Russian politicians, Russian embassies, Russian state media and the myriad of Russia’s useful idiots & propagandists attacking Ukraine. For a country Russia effectively claims is insignificant, it spends an inordinate amount of time, money and effort talking about Ukraine and desperately trying to discredit it.

And when we talk about money, the amount Russia’s spent attacking Ukraine will be immeasurable. One only has to look at the colossal costs involved for Russian state media to shovel out their daily diatribe of TV shows, YouTube videos, websites articles, blog posts, countless social media posts on Twitter, Face Book etc. all spent spreading and inventing big lies about Ukraine.

Because, as yesterday and today has shown, people ain’t buying Russia’s secondhand, too many miles on the clock propaganda. Jan 22nd saw a tremendous response to the #StandWithUkraine Campaign Day. Seen below, continuing into Jan 23rd, on Twitter the hashtag was Trending at No4, with over 20,000 tweets and huge numbers of retweets.

Stand With Ukraine Trending today Jan 23rd.

In no particular order, here’s some of the countries and senior politicians who used the hashtag and expressed support for Ukraine. Check out the hashtag to see many other countries, large numbers of foreign politicians and people around the world who’ve also tweeted. Header picture is from a Stand With Ukraine demo in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. I’ve just checked the hashtag and predictably a few Russian trolls are now using the hashtag – thereby proving my point, that Russia’s propaganda is always playing catch up and amusingly helps pro-Ukraine hashtags trend.

The US Foreign Secretary of State.
President of Kosovo.
The UK Foreign Affairs Minister.
The US Deputy Secretary of State.
Poland Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Australia’s Foreign Minister.
Latvia Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Georgia Minister of Foreign Affairs.

And we end with the full propaganda quote from Joseph Goebbels.
The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” And if Putin’s terrified of one thing, it’s the Russian people knowing the truth.
